Sleep and Snoring Specialists

Sleep apnea and snoring are common conditions that
can disrupt sleep and impact overall health. We offer diagnostic testing, surgical and non-surgical treatments for these conditions.

What We Offer?

Non Surgical Treatments

WatchPAT Home Sleep Testing

At yENTi Group, we are dedicated to helping our patients enjoy a good night’s sleep. The WatchPAT home sleep apnea testing system is just one example of how we use the latest medical treatments and diagnostic technology to get our patients closer to that goal. This diagnostic test allows us to get meaningful, actionable data about our patients’ sleep without disrupting their routines. Using this system, we may be able to diagnose or rule out sleep apnea for you without you having to complete a traditional in-office sleep study.

CPAP Treatment

At SouthEastern Ear, Nose, Throat Sinus Center, we offer home sleep studies and CPAP therapy as integral parts of diagnosing and managing sleep disorders like sleep apnea. Conducting a sleep study at home allows patients to comfortably monitor their sleep patterns, breathing, and heart rate using portable equipment. If a diagnosis of sleep apnea is confirmed, CPAP therapy is often prescribed. This treatment uses a machine to deliver a consistent airflow through a mask, keeping the airways open and ensuring uninterrupted sleep. These solutions not only improve sleep quality but also overall health, embodying our commitment at SouthEastern Ear, Nose, Throat Sinus Center to provide expert care and effective solutions that enhance your quality of life.

Dental Device

A dental device for sleep apnea, also known as an oral appliance, is a custom-fitted device worn during sleep to treat mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It works by repositioning the lower jaw and tongue forward to keep the airway open and reduce airway collapse. These devices are a non-invasive alternative to CPAP therapy, especially for patients who snore or cannot tolerate CPAP machines. They are easy to use, portable, and effective in improving sleep quality and reducing symptoms like daytime fatigue.

Surgical Treatments

”INSPIRE” Upper Airway Stimulation

An advanced option involving a small implanted device that stimulates the nerve controlling the tongue, keeping the airway open, ideal for those who struggle with CPAP machines.

“UPLIFT” Palate Procedure

The UPLIFT procedure is a minimally invasive surgical technique developed to treat obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and chronic snoring by targeting airway obstruction at the level of the soft palate.

”VIVAER” Nasal Cartilage Remodeling

A non-invasive procedure that uses controlled energy to gently reshape nasal cartilage, improving airflow without altering the nose’s external appearance.

”LATERA” Nasal Wall Stenting

This involves the insertion of a small implant to support and stabilize the lateral nasal wall, helping to keep the airways open and reduce nasal airway obstruction.

Rhinoplasty

A functional rhinoplasty—is a surgical procedure designed to improve airflow through the nose, helping reduce snoring and treat conditions like nasal obstruction or sleep-disordered breathing (including mild sleep apnea).

Maxillary Expansion

An orthodontic technique that widens the upper jaw, enhancing nasal airflow and alleviating sleep apnea symptoms

Dr. Carlos A. Torre

Dr. Torre completed his medical degree in his hometown of Puerto Rico at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Medicine. While obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Torre participated in the Advanced Training in Clinical Research fellowship program at the University of California San Francisco, where he first was exposed to the field of sleep surgery.
After completing his studies and specializations under the tutelage of many incredible colleagues and mentors, Dr. Torre became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Miami. There, he served as the Director of the Sleep Surgery program and was a faculty member in the Sleep Medicine division. He trained multiple residents and fellows in sleep surgery.

Dr. Torre focused on addressing the root of sleep disorders, instead of merely treating the symptoms; this unique approach led to strong collaborative relationships between different departments at the University of Miami. His introduction of programs such as personalized upper airway evaluation using Drug Induced Sleep Endoscopy (DISE), hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HGNS), and skeletal surgery for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) made the University of Miami one of the few centers in the nation that offered comprehensive sleep care.

Throughout his career, Dr. Torre has published papers on a wide range of subjects related to Obstructive Sleep Apnea, as well as nasal breathing optimization, and presented his work in many international and local meetings as a guest speaker.

He is a member of the Sleep Medicine Committee for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He was also a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine task force that developed the new guidelines for sleep apnea surgery.

FAQ

Q: Why do I snore so much?

A: Snoring happens when air can’t move freely through your nose or throat while you sleep. Sometimes it’s just a nuisance, but it can also be a sign of sleep apnea.

Q: What is sleep apnea?

A: Sleep apnea is a condition where breathing stops several times during the night. It can cause tiredness, headaches, and other health problems if left untreated.

Q: How do I know if I have sleep apnea?

A: We can perform an easy, at-home sleep test using a comfortable device that monitors your breathing while you sleep.

Q: How is snoring or sleep apnea treated?

A: Treatment depends on each case. Some patients improve with lifestyle changes or sleep devices, while others may need more advanced treatments or surgery to open their airway and improve breathing.
